Can a Cash Out Refinance Mortgage be Used for Construction?

This approach is used by a lot of people who have sufficient equity in their home. However a cash out refinance is better suited for a remodel rather than a full blown demolish and new construction project.

Strictly speaking a mortgage lender has the right to call a loan due and payable should they find out that the property has been demolished. And if they call the mortgage then in most cases you have only 30 days to pay off which may be an impossible task.

An Alternative to Conventional Construction Loans.

The FHA 203k mortgage program is a construction loan program offered by the Federal Housing Administration. This program is an excellent alternative to a conventional construction loan or a cash out refinance mortgage.
